Duties and responsibilities
Procurement Operations:
- Lead and oversee the procurement of aircraft parts, components, and materials in compliance with company standards and industry regulations.
- Analyze and evaluate supplier quotes, negotiating for the best terms, pricing, and delivery timelines.
- Develop and implement pricing strategies to optimize cost-effectiveness while ensuring quality and availability.
- Ensure proper inventory management, optimizing stock levels to prevent shortages or excess.
- Monitor procurement activities to ensure adherence to contractual terms and conditions.
Team Leadership:
- Supervise and mentor the procurement team, delegating tasks and ensuring smooth operations.
- Set clear objectives, monitor performance, and provide regular feedback to team members.
- Foster a collaborative team environment, promoting innovation and problem-solving.
- Train and develop team members to enhance their knowledge of procurement practices and systems.
Supplier Management:
- Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, negotiating contracts, terms, and prices.
- Conduct regular supplier performance reviews to ensure compliance with quality and delivery standards.
- Identify and onboard new suppliers to diversify the supply chain and mitigate risks.
Compliance & Documentation:
- Ensure all procurement activities comply with aviation industry standards (e.g., FAA, EASA) and organizational policies.
- Maintain accurate records of procurement activities, including purchase orders, invoices, and delivery schedules.
- Monitor and address any discrepancies or delays in part deliveries.
Reporting & Analysis:
- Analyze procurement data to identify trends, cost-saving opportunities, and areas for improvement.
- Provide regular reports to management on procurement activities, cost savings, and supplier performance.
- Implement and monitor KPIs to measure the efficiency and effectiveness of procurement operations.
Problem-Solving & Crisis Management:
- Address urgent procurement needs and resolve issues related to delays, shortages, or quality concerns.
- Collaborate with maintenance and engineering teams to source critical parts in emergency situations.
Skills and experience
Must-Have:
- 1–3 years of experience in aircraft parts procurement or a related aviation supply chain role.
- Strong understanding of aircraft parts, components, and procurement practices.
- Proficiency in analyzing and comparing supplier quotes and implementing pricing strategies.
- Familiarity with aviation regulations such as FAA, EASA, and OEM standards.
- Proficiency in using procurement and inventory management software (e.g., ERP systems).
- Demonstrated team-building and leadership skills, with a proven ability to mentor and manage teams.
- Strong negotiation and supplier relationship management skills.
Good to Have:
- Certification in supply chain management or procurement (e.g., CIPS, CSCP, or equivalent).
- Knowledge of logistics and freight forwarding processes for aviation parts.
- Experience with Just-in-Time (JIT) procurement practices.
- Ability to manage budgets and cost-saving initiatives.
