Research Associate

We are seeking a highly qualified Research Associate with advanced expertise in aircraft composites, composite repairs, and MRO protocols. The ideal candidate will possess a strong academic and practical background, demonstrated by experience in publishing research papers, filing patents, and authoring technical reports. This role requires 3–5 years of industry experience, including hands-on work in composite repair shops and a deep understanding of EASA and FAA composite repair techniques and standards. The candidate will contribute to innovative research while ensuring compliance with regulatory frameworks and contributing to technological advancements in the aerospace sector.

Duties and responsibilities
Research & Development:
  1. Conduct advanced research on composite materials and innovative repair techniques for aerospace applications.
  2. Identify new opportunities for technology development and contribute to filing patents for innovative solutions.
  3. Stay updated on emerging trends in composite materials, repair technologies, and aerospace standards.
  4. Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to drive research projects from concept to implementation.
Technical Writing & Knowledge Dissemination:
  1. Prepare and publish research papers in reputed journals and present findings at industry conferences.
  2. Develop comprehensive technical reports, repair protocols, and compliance documentation.
  3. Contribute to knowledge-sharing initiatives within the organization and with external collaborators.
Composite Repairs & Protocols:
  1. Develop and refine MRO protocols for composite structures in line with EASA and FAA standards.
  2. Evaluate damage and recommend appropriate repair techniques, including bonded and bolted repairs.
  3. Ensure repair methods adhere to OEM standards, SRMs, and regulatory guidelines.
  4. Provide hands-on support for complex composite repairs, including advanced lay-up and curing techniques.
Compliance & Documentation:
  1. Ensure compliance with EASA Part 145, FAA, and OEM repair standards.
  2. Maintain detailed records of research, testing, and repair processes to support audits and certifications.
  3. Collaborate with legal teams to file patents and ensure intellectual property protection.
Training & Collaboration:
  1. Mentor and train team members on composite repair techniques and research methodologies.
  2. Work with cross-functional teams, including engineering, production, and quality assurance, to implement research outcomes.
  3. Act as a liaison between the organization and regulatory bodies, academic institutions, and industry partners.
Skills and experience
Must-Have:
  1. Master’s degree in Research, Aerospace Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field (Ph.D. preferred).
  2. 3–5 years of experience in composite materials, repair techniques, and MRO protocols, including 1–3 years in a composite repair shop.
  3. Demonstrated ability to write and publish research papers and file patents.
  4. Expertise in EASA and FAA composite repair regulations and practices.
  5. Strong proficiency in composite repair tools and equipment, including vacuum bagging, curing, and inspection techniques.
Good to Have:
  1. Knowledge of advanced composite materials (e.g., carbon fiber, fiberglass, resin systems).
  2. Experience with non-destructive testing (NDT) methods like ultrasonic or thermography.
  3. Familiarity with CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, CATIA) for composite design and repair.
  4. Certifications in composite repair or aviation maintenance (e.g., CAMO, Part 145 approvals).
  5. Understanding of intellectual property processes and patent filing procedures.
